What We Do

What is Rheumatology?

Rheumatologists treat patients suffering from disorders of the bones, joints and the connective tissues that hold bones and joints together.

These conditions are the result of immunological disorders that cause the body to attack itself creating considerable pain, inflammation and discomfort.

Arthritis is a term used to describe more than 100 different conditions that affect the joints and other parts of the body.

It is the most frequent cause of activity limitation, more than heart disease, cancer or diabetes.

An estimated 46 million adults in the U.S. reported being told by a doctor that they have some form of arthritis or rheumatic disease.

Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis, scleroderma and metabolic diseases like osteoporosis are common ailments.

Such immunological disorders are not selective. They strike children and adults alike, affecting people from all walks of life.
